CELEBRITIES TO ATTEND TELECOMS AWARD.

Nigeria’s topmost evaluation exercise in the burgeoning Telecom Sector, Nigerian Telecom Awards instituted 10 years ago is set to celebrate its anniversary amidst pomp and pageantry. Information from the secretariat confirms that some top Nigerians have indicated interest in attending.

The list of dignitaries expected include, Vice President Namadi Sambo, who according to the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has been talking to him and his itinerary has been straightened to suit this event. The yearly event takes high pride in rewarding worthy operators in the telecom and allied sectors. The Secretary-General of the BoT, Otunba Biodun Ajiboye said: “We recognise telecom as a societal tool for engagement and interaction. We recognise government institutions, particularly those that take ingenious measures using ICT.

Take for instance what the Agriculture Minister has done using ICT for fertilizer distribution. These are initiatives worthy of recognition. Look at what the NAFDAC has done with authenticating drugs by sending codes to a number to tell original drugs from fake ones. These are high level initiatives that touch the Society and how we live
